Bradley Cooper delivers a career-defining performance in American Sniper, your Sunday night movie on 6 March. That’s something you’ll soon realise, when you watch the movie; but here are a few more things you should know about American Sniper, before tuning into M-Net on Sunday.

It’s based on the memoir "American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History".
Written by Chris Kyle (the sniper of the title), Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice, the former is portrayed by Bradley Cooper.
Directed by Clint Eastwood, it’s his first war movie since "Flags of our Fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima" in 2006.
Chris Kyle was a big Metallica fan. Eagle-eyed viewers will spot a Metallica flag in the film. Kyle listened to them while working out, prompting Cooper to do the same, as he prepared for the role.
Speaking of Cooper’s preparation, the actor gained roughly 18 kilograms for his seminal role. He consumed 6 000 calories and worked out for five hours every day.
The film received six Oscar nominations in 2015; winning one for Best Sound Editing.
"American Sniper" sparked controversy upon release from critics and viewers alike.
Despite the storm of negative publicity, it became the highest-grossing war film, beating previous record-holder "Saving Private Ryan".
