Last week we looked at shows set in New York, so now we’re taking a closer look at one of them in particular: Shades of Blue.

Starring Jennifer Lopez as single mother and NYPD detective Harlee Santos, it’s a tale of cops and corruption, peppered with family dilemmas. If you’ve been watching, you’ll know all this already, but did you know these eight interesting facts about the show?

Jennifer Lopez was originally only on board as a producer.
The show has been renewed for a second season.
It’s based on a novel, "Shades of Blue: 30 Years of (Un)ethical Policing", by Michael Rudolph.
Drea de Matteo is an Emmy-winning actress. She received the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress, for "The Sopranos", in 2004.
So is Ray Liotta! He won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, for "ER", in 2005.
Dayo Okeniyi (who plays Michael Loman) was born in Nigeria, but moved to the U.S. when he was 15.
Show creator Adi Hasak has written two screenplays with renowned French filmmaker Luc Besson.
Lopez has also played a law enforcer in movies. Remember "Money Train", "Angel Eyes", and "Out of Sight"?
