Shark Tank SA is giving entrepreneurs across South Africa plenty of inspiration and teaching them a few entrepreneurial lessons too. But the thirst for knowledge can never be quenched and if you need a little extra motivation, here are a few movies that will help you polish your pitch and get you out the door to move and shake.

1. The Social Network

Since we mentioned Facebook as one of the ideas that made people ridiculously rich right here, you have to check out The Social Network. Helmed by legendary director David Fincher (he of Seven and Fight Club fame), it follows the story of Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, played with verve by Jesse Eisenberg.

2. Glengarry Glen Ross

You have to watch this movie for Alec Baldwin’s riveting performance that will light a fire under your pants and get you off the couch to get things done. It’ll also teach you that the world of business can be brutal and you need to make sure your skin isn’t a thin one.

Warning: contains strong language.

3. The Pursuit of Happyness

Starring Will Smith, this true story will warm your heart and encourage you never to give up on your dreams.

4. Wall Street

We need the heartwarming movies, but we also need those that serve as a note of caution. This 1987 film directed by Oliver Stone and starring Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen reminds us that it’s not always all about the money.

Warning: contains strong language.

5. Joy

Let’s end on a positive note with this movie, also based on a true story, about Joy Mangano who became a self-made millionaire against all personal and professional odds.

Watch Joy on 8 November at 20:00 on M-Net Movies Premiere and catch more daring entrepreneurs in the tank every Sunday at 18:00 in Shark Tank South Africa on M-Net.
