There are plenty of articles floating around on the worldwide web about celebrities living and working in the USA that you didn’t know were South African. Often featured on these lists is comedian Trevor Noah; but, of course, we are very familiar with him and know we have a country in common.

Since you already know this too, we thought we’d scrounge up a few other facts about our comedic export that maybe you didn’t know before.

1.We already know he took over hosting duties from Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, but did you know Noah made his first appearance on the show back in December 2014 as an on-air contributor?

2. Noah has sold more DVDs than any other stand-up comedian in Africa – which makes it no surprise to learn that he is the most successful comedian on the continent.

3. He appeared as a guest panelist on the British quiz show QI, which is hosted by Stephen Fry and features permanent panelist Alan Davies.  During the episode Noah sang a snippet of The Click Song, much to the delight of Fry and fellow comedian Sandi Toksvig.

4. His other television accolades include the fact that he is the first South African comedian to appear on The Tonight Show and Late Night with David Letterman.

5. At the age of 18, he appeared in Isidingo.

6. Forbes named him one of thirteen African celebrities to watch in 2013.

7. You should follow him on Twitter. His tweets are as fun and funny as his shows.

8. Tonight with Trevor Noah was his very own talk show, and aired in 2010.

9. Radio is another medium with which he is familiar. He hosted his own radio show, Noah’s Ark, on YFM.

10. In 2012 he won the South African Comics’ Choice Award for Comic of the Year.
