When we say “things you didn’t know about Everest”, we are of course referring to the movie. Starring Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin and Jake Gyllenhaal, the film is based on a true story about two expeditions up the perilous peak that ended in tragedy.
The tragedy is recounted in the memoir Left for Dead: My Journey Home from Everest by Beck Weathers and forms the inspiration for the film. At the helm is Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur who painstakingly brought the glory and terror of nature to the screen along with a committed cast and crew.
