The Spark of Love recounts the beginning, end and rebirth of a relationship in rural Arkansas between William and Venus. Told in flashback, William, mourning the passing of his wife, recalls falling for the Shakespeare-loving Venus, a member of the mystical American Indian Lightning Clan. Though society, circumstance and family pressure initially keeps them apart, William eventually makes his way to New York City to join Venus in an impromptu performance of The Tempest. In the present, William begins seeing visions of his departed wife, which his son attributes to a declining mental state.
