It’s the last stretch of winter and we’ve got great movies to warm you up on Sunday nights. Here are the latest blockbusters coming up on M-Net channel 101.

Canary Black

From the directors of Taken comes this this riveting action-thriller starring Kate Beckinsale. CIA agent Avery Grave's life is turned upside down when her husband David is kidnapped by cyberterrorist Breznov. In exchange for David’s life, Breznov blackmails Avery to take on a dangerous mission and steal Canary Black, an important hidden file that can unleash hell on society. Avery embarks on a diabolical mission filled with twists, conspiracies, and deadly opponents in hopes of saving the man she loves – even if it means betraying her country. If you enjoyed Salt, Taken, and Dirty Angels, then you’re bound to like this one. The hunt for Canary Black is on Sunday 3 August at 20:00.

Lee

Academy Award winner Kate Winslet stars in this biographical war drama based on the biography, The Lives of Lee Miller. The movie uncovers the life of photojournalist Miller during World War ll. Through flashbacks, we see Miller’s life from a model to a war photojournalist, and her encounters with the people affected by the war. Witness history unfold in Lee on Sunday 10 August at 20:30.

Fun fact: Did you know the movie took eight years to shoot? Winslet also served as producer of the movie.

Joker: Folie à Deux

Joaquin Phoenix returns for a musical sequel to Joker, and the talented Lady Gaga joins him. The movie explores the crazy and toxic romance between Arthur Fleck (Joker) and Harley Quinn after they meet at Arkham State Hospital. The movie beautifully retells the love story of the infamous lovebirds through a musical and visual masterpiece. We admit that Gaga has us going gaga over her mesmerising voice, and Phoenix’s embodiment of the Joker is pure magic.

Watch Joker: Folie à Deux on Sunday 17 August at 20:00

Fun fact: Folie à deux is a French term meaning "madness of two”, which reflects the relationship between the Joker and Harley Quinn.

Mark Wahlberg, Topher Grace, and Michelle Dockery drive this suspenseful action-thriller that'll leave you gasping. Imagine being stuck 10 000 feet in the air with someone with a sinister plan? Yikes! Madolyn Harris (Dockery), a Deputy US Marshal, is taking fugitive Winston (Grace) to New York to testify in a case. She enlists the help of pilot Daryl Booth (Wahlberg) to fly them across the Alaskan wilderness to reach their destination. However, during the journey she grows suspicious of Daryl’s intentions, and sinister truths begin to unfold. Trapped in the air with no escape, she must fight for her life and ensure the safe landing of the plane. PS. Wahlberg’s performance is incredible. Take a Flight Risk on Sunday 24 August at 20:00.

Clive Owen, Matthew Tuck, and Daisy Ridley bring you some action, we’re talking risky, butt-kicking, hanging by a thread action!
