14 Survivors, 16 days, AU$250 000 (+-R2.9 million). Survivor : Australia v the World pits some of the Aussie franchise’s best players against some of the top castaways from franchises around the world on M-Net from Sunday 31 August at 17:30.

Returning to Samoa, where he emerged as the Sole Survivor on Survivor South Africa: Island of Secrets, Rob Bentele joins six other castaways in the World tribe. His return makes him the only Survivor: South Africa contestant to have competed in an international version of Survivor. The World tribe features three Survivor USA castaways: two-time winner Tony Vlachos, four-time player Cirie Fields, and Survivor: Cook Islands winner Parvati Shallow. Survivor New Zealand champion Lisa Holmes (formerly Stanger), Survivor Québec’s Kassandre Bastarache, and 2022 Robinsonekspedisjonen runner-up Tommi Manninen round out the tribe.

The Australia tribe features three-time castaway Shonee Bowtell; returning Brains vs Brawn and Heroes vs Villains star George Mladenov; recent Survivor: Titans vs Rebels competitor Kirby Bentley; 2020 Australian Survivor: All-Stars winner David Genat; Boost Juice founder and Champions v Contenders II player Janine Allis; 2017 Australian Survivor, 2019's Champions vs Contenders II, and former Big Brother housemate Luke Toki; and Survivor Australia S4 alumnus Sarah Tilleke.

Here are some fun facts about this season, courtesy of the Survivor Wiki:

  • Australia v the World is the first season to feature a four-time returning player (Shonee).
  • It is the first season to feature multiple imported players – and the first season to import players from Survivor franchises other than the American version.
  • It is the first English-language Survivor season to have more women than men, and the first Australian Survivor season to have an uneven number of men and women.
  • Following Survivor: Winners at War, this season features the second-highest number of former Sole Survivors in a single season, with five (David, Parvati, Tony, Lisa, and Rob).
  • Counting their appearances from Survivor USA, Australia v the World is Cirie and Parvati's fifth appearance overall.

This season seems likely to be host Jonathan LaPaglia’s last and promises to be an unrelenting test of courage, endurance, and strength that will push the castaways to their limits – and beyond.
