Howdy friends, the oil industry is a tough one, and it will eat you alive. The characters on Landman live fast-moving lives and have fast mouths. They deliver crazy lines that capture our attention and sometimes have us scratching our heads in wonder ...  Here's some Texan lingo for you:

Roughneck – This is an oil worker who works on oil rigs.

Worm – A newcomer to the job and learning the ropes of the oil industry. Cooper was often referred to as a worm in season 1 of Landman, as he was new to the job.

Tool pusher – The person who supervises the crew in the oil patch and makes decisions.

Ain't my first rodeo – This means it's not someone's first time doing something. They have experience at it.

Listen boy, this ain't my first rodeo.

Ginsels – Low level workers of the oil crew who do the dirty work.

All hat and no cattle – When a person boasts with words but puts no action into them.

Don't squat on your spurs – This means not to be hasty and not to make a decision without thinking it through.

All y'all – Used when talking about a group of people or when addressing many people.

All y'all better not be wasting my time.

Corn-fed – This is used when referring to a person who is well off and has had a wealthy upbringing.

Skeeters – This is a shortened word for mosquitoes.

Dem Texas folks have a lot of skeeters in summer.

Well, there you have it. Soon you'll be talking like a true Texan. For more cool Texan slang, watch Landman season 2 Express from the US on Mondays at 21:00 on M-Net channel 101.
