At the end of the tearful first episode of The Bachelor SA Season 2, there were two roses short for the group of 22 stunning ladies who walked the show’s red carpet to possibly start a love journey with handsome Marc Buckner. It was time to say goodbye to Blue Bulls babe Amor Kruger (27) and beautiful client liaison officer Michaela Liebenberg (24), both from Pretoria.
Up for grabs on the evening was the iconic First Impression Rose, eighteen red roses during the rose ceremony, and for the first time ever in the local series, a mysterious white rose. But despite making memorable entrances, Amor and Michaela left The Bachelor SA mansion empty-handed.
Michaela walked up to Marc with a bowl of limes which she dropped as he approached him, asking “would you mind helping me pick them up because I am terrible at pick up limes,” while our Bachelor called Amor “an Egyptian princess”. She entered the show in a stunning body-hugging blue gown, and a Toyota decorated with wedding cans and the words “Future Mrs Buckner”. Both the ladies managed to grab time at the cocktail party with Marc, but unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough to receive one of those all-important roses.
“My heart absolutely sank into my shoes, I was extremely disappointed,” Michaela said while a teary-eyed Amor believed she tried her best and it just wasn’t meant to be.
Marc ended the evening saying it was much more difficult than he expected and that he can only imagine it’s going to get much tougher, but that he’s looking forward to amazing adventures with the remaining ladies and can’t wait to get to know everyone a lot better.
The First Impression Rose
26-year-old vegan activist and boxer Silke Geugis from Cape Town caught Marc’s attention on the red carpet, with a wrapped gift that he could only open at the Cocktail Party, once he found her. Taking matters into her own hands, Silke approached Marc at the Cocktail Party to hand him his gift, but also, to score extra time with him. She wowed him with a hand-drawn portrait of his beloved rescue dog Luna – a big win in Marc’s eyes, who thought the gift was deeply thoughtful. To reciprocate Silke’s efforts, he later awarded her with the First Impression Rose, much to dismay of the twenty one envious ladies.
The White Rose
When the ladies lined up for the season's very first rose ceremony, you couldn’t help but noticing that one rose – and one rose only – stood out from the bunch. Unlike the other red ones, it was white! Marc called up bombshell dancer Pasha (27) first, and handed her this mysterious flower, a first for the local series. “I was excited but then I’m nervous at the same time, because I have no idea what the white rose means,” Pasha said. In the throw-forward at the end of the episode, host Jason Greer told her that it would give her some sort of power. What could this desirable white rose symbolise? And how will it impact Pasha’s relationship with Marc and the ladies?
