This yoga month, Zee TV Africa (452) in conjunction with High Commission of India Pretoria and the Consulate General of India in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town bring you International Day of Yoga 2016. The Day of Yoga will be held in venues across South Africa over the weekend of 18 June and 19 June.
This form of exercise that was birthed in India thousands of years ago is now recognised all over the world and has given many people a new lease on life due to its various benefits.
Yoga is a practice of physical, mental and spiritual discipline. It helps one with increased flexibility, muscle strength and tone, improved respiration, energy and vitality, maintaining a balanced metabolism, weight reduction, cardio and circulatory health, improved athletic performance, protection from injury and, not to mention, emotional and mental wellbeing.
Every morning at 06:00 CAT, viewers all over Africa are graced with the Yoga For You programme which showcases yoga instructors giving lessons which viewers can enjoy in the comfort of their own homes and have a brilliant start to their day. Zee TV Africa is proud to bring this live day of yoga to African shores in hopes of sharing this wonderful practice with our African audience.
On Sunday 19 June, the International Yoga Day event will be held in Durban at the Amphi Theatre (08:00 to 10:30), in Johannesburg at Zoo Lake (08:00 to 10:30), in Midrand at the Sagewood School (10:30 to 12:30), in Laudiam at the Seva Samaj Hall (09:30 to 11:30) and on Saturday 18 June in Cape Town at the Samaj Centre in Gatesville (08:30 to 10:30).
The day will see hundreds of people from all walks of life come together with one common goal, to promote their love for yoga. The yoga routines that the participants practice on the day will be done all over the world during the same times.
