They wowed the coaches during their Blind auditions, but this Sunday 8 April the last remaining talent in the four coaches’ teams will have to outshine their opponents to nab a spot in the live shows.

Viewers can look forward to two intense Battles from #TeamLira#TeamKahn and #TeamBobby and one from #TeamKaren, giving seven of the incredible singers the go-ahead to go further in the competition. Adding some drama to the clashes, there’s also one more lifeline for someone who doesn’t make the cut. Coaches Karen Zoid, Bobby van Jaarsveld and Lira have already used their “Steals”, but coach Kahn still has the opportunity to grab a stand-out performer for his team.

During his Blind Audition, 24-year-old Vernon Barnard, who lost his eyesight at the age of six, had the country in tears when coach Bobby broke down after experiencing a strong emotional connection with him the moment Vernon walked onto the stage. Since then, Vernon’s clip from the show on YouTube has garnered more than 4 million hits. That’s no guarantee for moving forward in the show, however. Vernon will be battling #TeamBobby’s Abel Knobel, 24, an experienced stage performer who has been part of a popular boy band and is determined to make a name for himself as a solo artist.

Another epic clash involves two stars who turned all four of the coaches’ chairs. Back-up singer Robin Pieters, 25, from Cape Town will take on the charismatic El Clay, 25, from Vredendal in the Western Cape to continue their mentorship under coach Lira.

Will coach Kahn opt to use his Steal for one of these singers or will he pick a deserving contender from another Battle? The very talented session performers Tracey-Lee Oliver, 35, and Nadine Sisam, 28, will fight it out in #TeamKaren, while there could be another option for Kahn in the battles between #TeamLira’s Kimberleigh van der Ventel, 19, and Busisiwe Mutlaka, 23, as well as #TeamBobby’s Jessica Martins,18, and Xanilee Hammond, 20.
