Great British Bake Off judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood

Reality shows with revised rosters.

In news sure to get a rise out of the show's loyal followers, The Guardian is reporting that South African-born cookbook author and British food "royalty" Pru Leith is set to replace Mary Berry as a judge on the next season of The Great British Bake Off. Berry has served as a judge alongside baker Paul Hollywood since show’s first season.

    • Watch The Great British Bake Off S6, streaming on DStv Now tonight at 20:00 on BBC Lifestyle (174).

While reality show judges are more accustomed to giving contestants the boot than being shown the door themselves, Bake Off is certainly not the first show to pull off a swap like this.

Here are some other famous reality shows who decided to rotate their benches:

The Voice

Ceelo Green and Adam Levine were two of the four coaches when the show made it’s debut in 2011. After three seasons, Green and Levine left and were replaced by Shakira and Usher, only to return for Season 5 and swap out again for Season 6.

   • Thankfully, The Voice SA judges Karen Zoid, Khan Morbee, Bobby van Jaarsveld and Lira all stuck around for the show’s second season, which you can stream on DStv Now, Sundays from 17:30 on M-Net.

The Ultimate Braai Master

This homegrown cooking show has undergone multiple shifts in personnel. After two seasons, former Masterchef: The Professionals contestant Petrus Madutela replaced chef Marthinus Ferreria as a judge alongside Bertus Basson. The pair filmed a further two seasons together.

Now, Media24 is reporting that the upcoming Season 5, set to air later this year on Travel Channel, will feature an all-new panel of judges consisting two new but familiar faces: former Masterchef South Africa judges Pete Goffe-Wood and Benny Masekwameng.

    • Watch the talented kids of MasterChef Junior USA step up and face the judges, streaming on DStv Now tonight at 18:30 on M-Net (101).
