The hugely popular drama Victoria returns on Monday 4 September at 20:00 CAT on ITV Choice (123).
In the second series, the focus is on how Victoria balances her responsibilities as Queen and parent, while Prince Albert struggles to define his own role supporting his powerful wife.
The regular cast is joined by BAFTA Award-winner Dame Diana Rigg (Game of Thrones) as the Duchess of Buccleuch, the Queen’s new Mistress of the Robes.
Small stature, tall status. Queen Victoria was barely five feet tall, but her outspoken nature and courage were by no means diminutive. She even proposed to her husband Prince Albert, when she was just 16.
Even six assassination attempts were not bigger than Victoria, who survived while her popularity soared amongst the British public.
Raised by a single mother, she later became a single mother herself. Victoria’s own mother was not as bold, and was influenced to isolate her by Sir John Conroy, her advisor. After Prince Albert died from typhoid fever, Victoria remained in mourning for the rest of her life.
One month after the end of season one, the brand new eight-part season sees Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes reprise their roles as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and is again written by creator and executive producer, Daisy Goodwin.
Don’t miss the scandal, romance and tragedy, with a young but iconic couple at the centre - returning Monday 4 September at 20:00 on ITV Choice (123).
