US Open: Round Four predictions

We have made predictions in the men’s and women’s quarter-finals.

Pablo Carreno Busta v Diego Schwartzman

Pablo Carreno Busta

The match between these two tennis aces is difficult to call. It will be a titanic battle that tennis fans will enjoy watching.

Prediction: We go with Pablo Carreno Busta for the win, based on the fact that he defeated fifth seed Marin Cilic, 4-6 7-5 7-5 6-4 earlier in the tournament.

Sloane Stephens v Anastasija Sevastova

Sloane Stephens

Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova held her nerve in her Round Four encounter with Maria Sharapova. On the other hand, her opponent Sloane Stephens is seemingly playing her best tennis lately, with straight set victories over Roberta Vinci and Ashleigh Barty. The American was pushed to her limit by Dominika Cibulkova.

Prediction: With the crowd behind her, Stephens will narrowly win to progress to the semi’s.

Venus Williams v Petra Kvitova

Venus Williams

Like good wine Venus Williams has matured and maintains good form at the age of 37. She is a two-time US Open champion (1999 and 2009), and finished as runner-up at Wimbledon. Her opponent has been phenomenal in the tournament with her biggest win being when she defeated this year’s Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza.

Prediction: For sentimental reasons, we would love to see Venus win this match, and we believe she will pull through to the next stage.

Sam Querrey v Kevin Anderson

Kevin Anderson

South Africa’s Kevin Anderson has played his best tennis in the tournament, and showed nerves of steel in his Round Four match against Paolo Lorenzi winning the match 6-4 6-3 6-7 (4-7) 6-4. Anderson last appeared in the quarters in 2015, unfortunately he got knocked out by Stan Wawrinka.

Prediction: The two players locked horns at Wimbledon Round of 16 stage which Querrey won. The odds are stacked against Anderson, but our patriotism will not allow us to bet against the South African.

Tune in for the action from Day 9 of the US Open on Tuesday 5 September on SS6 (DStv Channel 206) and on DStv Now at 18:00 live and exclusively on SuperSport.
