Voting public now has all the say and talent tracks are available on iTunes.
In a surprise twist, all 13 singers who are still in The Voice SA will perform this week before viewers will find out who from each team received the most votes from the voting public. This talent will be going through to the final of the show, taking place on Sunday 22 May alongside the talent who received a guaranteed spot from the coaches last week. This week’s exciting semi-final will also include appearances by local musician Matthew Mole as well as pop band Monark.
More good news is that all of the songs performed by the Top 13 will be made available on iTunes and Apple Music directly after the show! Giving the talent a taste of what it is like to record their own tracks and have their music made available for public release, Universal Music South Africa – who will also be giving the winner of the show a recording contract – will be releasing two The Voice SA albums this week and next week respectively. This week will feature 13 songs from the Top 13, and next week will feature tracks from the talent performing in the finale. To find out how to download or listen to your favourite singers’ songs, visit www.mnet.tv/thevoice on Sunday night.
“This is a fantastic development and an indication of the calibre of talent that has been on The Voice SA,” says M-Net’s Head of Publicity, Lani Lombard. “We believe that many of these singers are going to make it big in the South African music industry and that fans will enjoy making their top-notch performances part of their music libraries.”
When The Voice SA Coaches Karen Zoid, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Lira and Kahn Morbee each exercised their final “Save” of the season last week Khan saved 22-year old heartthrob Richard Stirton from Cape Town; Lira opted for the charismatic Zoë Modiga, 22, from Pietermaritzburg; Bobby decided to Gavin Edwards, 37, another chance; and Karen saved powerhouse diva Thembeka Mnguni, 32.
South Africa has until 22:00 on Thursday to decide who will join them at the live final.
- In #TeamBobby voters have to choose between the 22-year old blind singer Vernon Barnard [voting no 06] and 21-year-old Austin Lurring [voting no 01].
- In #TeamKaren the vote is between Almur Marais, 25, from Stilfontein [voting no 17] or Jono Grayson, 23, from Cape Town [voting no 18].
- In #TeamKahn the race is on between students Clemour Ngobeni, 24, from Midrand [voting no 09] and Francis Bowers, 23, from Melkbosstrand [voting no 12].
- And #TeamLira still has three singers left in competition, due to a technical voting glitch last week: Jono Johansen, 19, from Durban [voting no 28]; Robin Pieters, 25, from Cape Town [voting no 30]; and Jeremy Olivier, 41, from Cape Town [voting no 27].
From this week, the coaches now have no more say – from now on the fans and only the fans will decide who will sing in the finalé, and who will eventually walk away with that R800 000 prize package and the honour of being the very first winner of The Voice SA.
