Watch episode three as the team goes big in Japan!
Watch episode three of Top Gear Series 25 on Wednesday, 14 March at 20:00 on BBC Brit (DStv 120) or stream it on DStv Now where the adventurous trio of Matt LeBlanc, Rory Reid and Chris Harris take a trip to a country that has one fascinating car culture and is considered one of the most diverse in the world.
This week Top Gear heads to Japan with a 60 minute special devoted to all things Japanese!
Catch Matt and Chris as they negotiate buying second-hand sports cars at auction for a big road trip across Honshu – what could go wrong?
Rory has one night to experience the weirdest car culture Tokyo has to offer and the episode takes a spin when Rory meets some mad underground car tuners and very lurid Lamborghini owners, and also gets to drive a car that (really) shouldn’t be road legal.
Out on track, Chris compares the two most Japanese-styled cars on sale today the thuggish Honda Civic Type R and Lexus LC500. What could be more epic than that?
Episode three fun facts: The auction, where the challenge cars were bought from, is one of the largest in Japan, selling approximately 15 000 cars on each auction day. Top Gear was the first TV crew to ever be allowed to film in there. All the cars featured in Rory’s insert are genuinely owned by members of the public in Japan.
Top Gear Series twenty sees Matt LeBlanc (best known for his role as Joey Tribbiani on the iconic NBC series Friends), Chris Harris (former professional race car driver), Rory Reid (award winning motoring journalist) and The Stig return to your screens, with guest appearances from Sabine Schmitz and Eddie Jordan. During six hour-long episodes, watch the team tackling the big issues: building the world’s fastest tractor, tackling America’s Wild West in shiny new V8 sports cars, attempting to land a NASA research plane in America’s ultimate muscle car, and much more. Season 25 was filmed in locations including Japan, USA, Portugal, Italy and just outside of Guildford.
Fans can expect the latest season to deliver Top Gear’s trademark array of stunning photography, state-of-the-art supercars and celebrity guests.
