The wait is over; The Terror is nearly here! The highly anticipated series based on the novel of the same name by Dan Simmons is set to premiere on Tuesday 27 March at 21:00 on SundanceTV and streaming on DStv Now.

Inspired by a true story, The Terror, from executive producers Ridley Scott, David Kajganich and Soo Hugh, takes viewers on a harrowing journey.

The story focuses on the Royal Navy’s perilous voyage into unchartered territory as the crew attempts to discover the Northwest Passage. Faced with treacherous conditions, limited resources, dwindling hope and fear of the unknown, the crew is pushed to the brink of extinction. Frozen, isolated and stuck at the end of the earth, The Terror highlights all that can go wrong when a group of men, desperate to survive, struggle not only with the elements, but with each other.

Before you dive into The Terror, here are some interesting facts to know about the series.

- You’re in good hands with Ridley Scott as one of the executive producers. You’ve probably enjoyed a number of his film titles including Alien, Alien: Covenant, Blade Runner, The Gladiator, The Martian, Hannibal and Thelma & Louise. Basically, The Terror is in the hands of a genius in the film and series industry.

- Calling all the Thronies, fans of Game of Thrones are bound to be hooked on The Terror and you’ll be excited to know that Tobias Menzies stars in the series. Menzies portrayed Brutus in GoT. We also have Ciarán Hinds starring in The Terror – he played Mance Rayder in GoT. Both Rayder and Menzies not only worked together on GoT but also the series Rome.
