We look at the Super Rugby 2018 jerseys that South Africa’s finest will wear in this year’s competition.
The Western Cape-based franchise has cut ties with long time kit sponsor Adidas. Their battle armour is proudly South African, manufactured by a company in the Mother City, Genuine Connection which has been in partnership with the team for 17 years. We are not wowed by their home kit. But we will give it our endorsement for being locally produced.
The Lions made it all the way to the final in last year’s competition, in their bid to make sure they lift the cup they have kept it simple regarding their jersey. Canterbury designed a fairly attractive jersey which features the red and white colours of the union.
This season the Sharks will take the field in a jersey that is inspired by their fans. The home jersey is black with artwork which encompasses the city of Durban. The away and the third strip is not too shabby either.
To celebrate the union’s 80-year anniversary you will see the number 20180 on the upper chest of the Bulls jersey. And as an added extra the away kit is blue, white and yellow which plays homage to Mamelodi Sundowns who were crowned champions of the continent at the CAF Champions League. This is a special touch from the union to unite the soccer and rugby in the city of Pretoria.
