HBO’s hit series Ballers with Dwayne Johnson returns Friday 7 September at 00:00 on 1Magic (DStv channel 103) for Season 4, which you’ll be able to stream on DStv Now. Great news for Ballers fans, HBO has confirmed a fifth season will be heading our way! Now is the perfect time to get hooked on this popular series if you haven't already.

Seasons 1 to 3 are all available and ready to binge on Showmax for those wanting a recap on previous seasons - and for anyone who’s still a  Ballers virgin and wants to get in on the action.

In Season 4, the stakes keep getting higher for Spencer Strasmore, who heads to LA for a big acquisition deal. It’s a dark place for him, but he can’t afford to mess this up.

The filthy rich Anderson brothers failed to blind Spencer with their money, and The Rock is now looking at forming his own empire by diversifying into extreme sports.

Meanwhile, Ricky is looking for a big comeback after struggling to adapt to life as a new father. Charles is having a hard time being a general manager and is not sure what to do. And Jason is trying his best to set Spencer up with a high school prodigy, and his mother as well!

Some new cast members join the team in Season 4, along with familiar favourites returning to our screens. We have the British comedian Russell Brand playing Lance Kilns; John Washington (son of Denzel) plays his biggest role yet in Ballers as Ricky Jerret, a high-level NFL player who may be his own worst enemy; Omar Miller is back as Charles Grene, who is adapting to life after being an NFL star; and Andy Garcia plays Andre Allen, Spencer’s nemesis.

Here’s a recap of the previous seasons, which you can stream right now on Showmax [Spoiler Alert!]

Season 1:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson plays Spencer Strasmore, a retired American football superstar trying to reinvent himself as a financial manager for current players in sun-soaked Miami. But life off the pitch is not as easy as Spencer thought it would be, and dealing with sports superstars is a wild ride of money, sex and scandals.

Season 2:

Spencer’s business is in jeopardy as he was caught fighting on camera, and is forced to do whatever it takes to save his company. Spencer’s top clients, Ricky and Charles, have massive decisions to make about their careers. Ricky must pick his next (and possibly final) deal as a pro player, and Charles faces a massive blow when he’s cut from the team.

Season 3:
In the third season, we really see Spencer develop as a character. Until now, his good guy nature made him an easy person to like and his personal flaws made him more relatable. But in this season we start to question Spencer’s motives, and wonder if winning for the sake of winning means everything to him.

In this season, we see Spencer cozying up with the very wealthy Anderson brothers and a Vegas bigwig to land a massive deal with the Raiders, but can he make it happen, and can he trust his partners?
