The Plot
Set in a society where fertile women "Handsmaids" are assigned to help families who cannot have children. The series is an adaption of Margaret Atwood’s book by the same title.
Women in the regime are oppressed and not allowed to work, read or write or have any land.
Here are some of the great cast members you can expect to see:
Elizabeth Moss
You may have seen her in Mad Men, Girl Interrupted and The West Wing amongst other things.  She’s won numerous awards, but most recently an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy for her role as June who becomes the handmaid to Commander Fred Waterford.
Joseph Fiennes
Joseph has been acting and winning awards for more than two decades! We first took note of his acting talent in Shakespeare In Love, and he didn’t disappoint.
As Commander Fred Waterford, a government official in The Handmaid’s Tale, we will see him step out of the system’s structure, as he starts a friendship with June (played by Elizabeth Moss).
Yvonne Strahovski
You may have seen her as Hannah on Dexter, Chuck, 24: Live Another day and Killer Elite amongst others.
In this series she plays Serena who is Fred’s wife.  She’s accepted her role in this society and wants to have kids real bad.
Samira Wiley
Do you remember Samira in her unforgettable performance of Poussey Washington in Orange Is The New Black? She continues to impress with her talent in The Handmaid’s Tale, for which she was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category at the Emmy Awards.
As Moira, Samira’s character has been very good friends with June since college. She tried to escape the system, but was recaptured, and when she meets June again, her hope of being free someday is reignited.
O-T Fagbenle
This hottie plays June's husband. You may have seen him in EastEnders, The Five, The Interceptor and Little Miss Jocelyn amongst other things. We also like that he’s given us a heads up about a new season:
Alexis Bledel
We loved Alexis in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, Mad Men and Gilmore Girls.
We’re happy she’s back on our screens as Ofglen. Her performance in The Handmaid’s Tale earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
In her role as a university professor and being fertile, she’s at first welcomed into the camp, until her relationship status becomes known, and she gets punished.
