Cristiano Rolando and Isco of Real Madrid in the Uefa Champions League, broadcast live on SuperSport on DStv.

The UEFA Champions League has dished up some classic matches over the years, but seldom has a clash quite captured the imagination like this Group H confrontation in Madrid.

Don’t miss the UEFA Champions League Group H clash between defending champions Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur live from Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday 17 October 2017, streaming live on SuperSport 3 on DStv Now at 20:45.

This is the tussle for outright leadership in what was initially dubbed "The Group of Death", but that isn’t the only reason for the heightened anticipation among football fans. It will also see the appearance of two of the biggest goal gluttons in the game, Christiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid and Harry Kane from Spurs.

While Ronaldo has hogged the headlines for many seasons now, the 24-year-old Kane is fast rising to superstar status and arguably one of the most talked about players in the world right now.

He comes to the famous home of Real Madrid football with a mammoth goal-scoring appetite, including six hattricks in the calendar year so far, and currently tops the Champions League goal-scoring charts with five goals.

After a slow start, the darling of White Hart Lane (now Wembley) broke his goal drought last month with 13 strikes, equalling the record jointly held by Ronaldo (October 2010) and Lionel Messi (March 2012) for most goals in a single month. He has also out-scored Ronaldo this year and sits in second spot among the top goal scorers in European football.

That illustrious list includes Messi, Edinson Cavani, Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubermeyang and Ronaldo.

It is hoped that the 2016 English Premier League runners-up have now learned about the pitfalls of Champions League football after failing to make it out of the group stage last season. Spurs have also been in decent form on the road, boasting a 100% record away from home. But in the star-studded Real Madrid, even without injured Gareth Bale, they encounter serial champions and hardened European campaigners.

It’s time for Mauricio Potchettino’s side to prove they are ready to take the step up and become realistic Champions League contenders.

Real Madrid v Tottenham Hotspur potential game changers:

Real Madrid: Luka Modric, Christiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Lucas Vazquez, Marco Asensio, Isco.

Tottenham Hotspur: Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-min, Moussa Sissoko, Eric Dier, Ben Davies.
