Paula and James are worlds apart. While they both live in Dublin, Paula is a well-respected science teacher, while James scrapes by day to day by doing maintenance jobs, stealing from his mother and sleeping with his clients. Paula hires James to exterminate the rats when she hears strange scuttling noises in her basement.  They share a frenzied one-night stand, and in a fleeting moment of passion, Paula’s life is brutally impacted. She is quickly pulled into a vicious game of cat and mouse with James, and her job, family and friends are drawn into this new dark world. As James’ grip on her life strengthens, Paula’s sense of normality is shattered. She is forced to access the darkest depths of her soul in order to survive, as local detective and confidant Mac struggles to reach or protect her.
