Necktie Youth, movie, BoxOffice

BoxOffice in another South African first with Necktie Youth.

For the first time in South Africa, you’ll be able to watch a movie on BoxOffice at the same time that it’s available at cinemas.

Necktie Youth is a ground-breaking South African movie that takes a dark, gritty and humorous look at the lives of modern-day, multi-racial youths living in Sandton.

Haunted by the memory of Emily, a girl who live-streamed her suicide one year ago, Jabz and his best friend, September, go on a drug-fuelled joy ride through the affluent suburbs of Johannesburg.

The movie’s been described by critics as a beautifully sincere and fragile South African version of “kids”, actively challenging audiences to listen, and one of the highlights of the Tribeca Film Festival.

Necktie Youth stars Sibs Shongwe La-Mer, Bonko Cosmo and Colleen Balchin and is also Sibs Shongwe La-Mer’s directorial debut.

This movie will be available on BoxOffice from 24 September 2015.
