We've got some exclusive info about NCIS: New Orleans straight from the cast! Here's what they have to say about the NCIS series, shooting and more.
Scott Bakula - Special Agent Dwayne Pride
Will NCIS: New Orleans appeal to fans of NCIS?
We have to write the show, we have to deliver the show, we have to earn the fans because it's not a given. So, I welcome the challenge. We all do. We're all excited about it. I think we feel like we're going to be different enough to hopefully get new fans.
How connected will NCIS: New Orleans be to NCIS?
There are going to be crossovers. There‟s going to be connective tissue. And I think that it will ultimately help both shows.
How do you think audiences will react to Pride?
I hope he becomes an interesting character that people can relate to and are intrigued by.
Zoe McLellan - Special Agent Meredith "Merri" Brody
What do you enjoy most about shooting on location in New Orleans?
I do have some family in New Orleans. My great grandparents are from New Orleans. I feel more at home in New Orleans than any place I've ever lived. I feel like it is such a gift to have this opportunity, first of all to play this role and work for these incredible people and then to have to relocate to this city that I'm so proud to be a part of is awesome. So, I'm not sad about this move at all.
How tempting has the food been in New Orleans?
It's balance I think with everything. It's moderation. I'm a big believer in, you know, take care of yourself, but enjoy yourself. So, you know, I won't be eating beignets every single day, but once in a while absolutely.
Lucas Black - Special Agent Christopher LaSalle
How do you feel about LaSalle's interest in Legos?
I think it‟s something that I‟m going to have to get acquainted with here pretty soon because I really didn't know how big it was until I read about it and so it's going to be interesting. I'm going to have to start playing with Legos now with my kids.
Are there similarities between you and your character?
He obviously likes to have fun in New Orleans, my character does. So, I'm a boring guy. I'm married and got kids. I go to bed at 9 o'clock. When the kids are asleep, I'm asleep. So, that's totally opposite from my character. I do work hard, but I don't play as hard as my character does.
C.C.H Pounder - Dr. Loretta Wade
How did you prepare for your role as a medical examiner on NCIS: New Orleans?
I had a visit with Craig Harvey, the medical examiner, coroner for Los Angeles County, and he took me to the morgue through the morgue and that entire experience. I saw about 23 autopsies happening at the same time just sort of row after row and then I saw an endless room of bodies.
How did your visit to the morgue affect your portrayal of Dr. Wade?
It was such a sort of visceral moment for me when I realised, wow, I'm just looking at bodies. The humanness of it, the spirit of it, the soul of it is not actually in the room. And that's when I found the kernel of my character because I'm going to work on a character that is there for the living to help them solve the mystery of the death of their loved one as oppose to dealing just with a body. It's a body that can reveal for them what happened, how it happened, and I wanted that kind of emotional bond with those people.
Will NCIS: New Orleans investigate crimes outside of New Orleans?
We're going to be shooting in New Orleans, not the French Quarter. So, that's really important. The French Quarter is just part of it and we are going to have stories they say all the way down the Gulf Coast. So, I think we're probably going to see things in New Orleans that people are not even aware of besides, you know, levees, beads and music. There will probably be a whole bunch of other stuff that we have yet to discover.
