A new telenovela, titled The Road, is on the cards for viewers of Mzansi Magic.

An exciting new telenovela, intriguingly titled The Road, is on the cards for viewers of Mzansi Magic and the story is expected to premiere at the end of August.

Moving between iconic, ill-fated 1950s era colliding with the energy of modern day Jozi, The Road weaves a tantalising tale of past and present. An epic love story and a series of mysterious deaths collide when an evocative book written from the memories of an old man leads to the silver screen. And so begins The Road.

“This is a major milestone for us,” says M-Net Director for Local Interest Channels Nkateko Mabaso. The Road marks our fourth venture into the genre and we’ve gone all out to create a high quality, compelling drama for our audiences. We want them to feel immersed in the emotions of the characters and the demands of their worlds. The aim is to make a visually stunning, storyline-driven drama that will keep the viewers enticed.”

Produced for Mzansi Magic by The Bomb Shelter, who were also responsible for award-winning Isibaya. The Road will pay tribute to the legendary sounds of the 50’s which gave South Africa some of its greatest musicians and most admired talents, contrasted with present day sounds, fashion and lifestyle.

The telenovela sees talents such as: Muzi Mthabela, Nandi Ngoma, Tsholofelo Maseko, Moneoa Moshesh, Solomon Sebothoma, Sithembiso Khoza, Gail Mabalane, Neo Ntlatleng, Sthandiwe Kgoroge and many more amazing Mzansi talent!
