A life coach, stylist and glam squad team up to completely makeover two ordinary South Africans each week, all in the name of finding love online. They're transformed inside and out...you won't want to miss South Africa's latest makeover show!

We chatted to the experts responsible for the transformations, and here is what they had to say:

Dr Zenia Barnard - Life Coach:

What is your role on Love at Second Swipe?

I am the life coach for the participants. Together we look at their online dating profiles and the words they've used to describe themselves. We then discuss what might be holding them back from finding love, and then we look at how their online bio's can be improved to support any new-found insights.

Tell us what it is like being involved in helping build someone's confidence through a makeover?

It is very inspiring to see the process evolve. Every participant is very different, so there is no recipe for success. We always need to think on our feet, which is both exciting and nerve-racking.

Sometimes when a participant, who signed up for the show, resists full transformation, it can be disheartening. But overall it is a very fulfilling experience.

What sort of challenges are the participants battling with?

Self-worth is the biggest issue for many. Many participants experienced years of being in a toxic relationship, or extreme loneliness, so they don't believe in themselves anymore. It is as if some of them have lost hope. The negative narrative in their own mind has become such a part of them that they struggle to acknowledge their own positive attributes. Some of them have also built defensive walls around themselves, which translates into inflated egos and resistance.

What is one of your favourite makeover moments on the show?

When our conversation on the couch leads to an "a-ha" moment, and I can see the light of insight appear in a participant's eyes, I feel deeply thankful. I know, then, that I have made a difference in someone's life.

What will people love about Love at Second Swipe?

We treat participants holistically. Each part of the process contributes to the overall end-product. Every episode has its ups and downs, which makes for great entertainment. People will love the fact that they can identify with many issues addressed in the show.

Shaldon Kopman - Stylist:

What is your role on Love at Second Swipe?

My role is to evaluate and assess the participants, understand the body shapes and personalities, and work accordingly. It is ultimately to bring out the best in them, so that they can confidently portray an image that reflects their trueness, enabling them to have better online dating profile images.

Tell us what it is like being involved in helping build someone's confidence through a makeover?

Confidence boosting is a major challenge, as most individuals have issues with their bodies. They have a skewed sense of reality and perception of what others find attractive in them. When these individuals expose themselves to expert assessment and advice they are able to understand their bodies better and dress accordingly, enhancing their fine features and create a focal point around this. We all need assistance, to a greater or lesser degree, when it comes to understanding ourselves in this realm of fashion.

What sort of challenges are the participants battling with?

Participants battle with body shape understanding, fabric choices, understanding colour and the therapy thereof. Being themselves and loving themselves are also major challenges.

What is one of your favourite makeover moments on the show?

The surprise, sometimes confusion of the great reveal (when the participants get to see themselves in the mirror for the first time after a very long day). Some are super excited, elated with the new possibilities of finding love, while others are simply shocked, confused at what they see. The latter is usually the case when they have been so stuck in their ways for far too long, that seeing themselves any differently is too much of a mind shift.

What will people love about Love at Second Swipe?

It is educational and the audience will learn something from each and every episode, it’s not just about a basic make-over. Psychology and understanding of self is prevalent throughout the show. We often find ourselves misled in this world of fashion with all its vanities, leaving us lost in translation on how to adapt to suit ourselves, our body shapes and most importantly our personalities. This is what the audience will love and appreciate about the show.
