The darling of South African swimming, Chad Le Clos is on the verge of adding a remarkable fourth FINA World Cup men’s title to his already rich haul of accolades in Singapore this coming weekend.

Le Clos has a comfortable lead at the top of the overall men’s standings ahead of the Russian Kirill Prigoda and 50 metre freestyle and 100m medley top-dog Vladimir Morozov (Russia).

The Durban-born swimmer, recently voted the Best Male Athlete in Africa by the Association of National Olympic Committees (Anoc), has already captured the first two sector prizes totalling $100 000 (R1.45 million).

Le Clos has been unrivalled in the 50 and 100m butterfly and has yet to be beaten. He also boasts three wins in the 200m butterfly, having been pipped only once to the touch pad by American Tom Shield in Hong Kong.

Countryman Cameron van der Bergh is fifth overall. He’s unbeaten in the 50m breaststroke, with an additional three victories in the 100m boosting his points tally.

World 100 and 200 freestyle record holder, Sarah Sjostrom (Sweden), who has also dominated the 100m butterfly, leads the women’s standings from medley queen Katinka Hosszu (Hungary) and 50 metre freestyle world record holder Ranomi Kromowidjojo (Netherlands).

Day 1 (18 November):

Men: 200m freestyle, 200m breaststroke, 50 m backstroke, 400m IM, 100m butterfly.

Women: 100m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 400m freestyle, 100m IM, 200m butterfly, 50m freestyle.

Mixed: 4x50m medley.

Day 2 (19 November):

Men: 100m IM, 400m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 100m breaststroke, 50m freestyle.

Women: 200m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, 200m IM, 50m backstroke, 800 m freestyle, 100m butterfly.

Mixed: 4x50m freestyle.
