We chat to the Great SA Bake Off contestant.
The Great South African Bake Off has shown us how much baking talent South Africans really have! So every Tuesday at 20:00 on BBC Lifestyle (174), we’ve been on the couch, ready to see some awesome treats.
Like true fans of the show, we had a chat with one of the contestants, Lauren, about her experience. Check it out:
What has been your best experience on the show?
My best experience on the show was meeting all the amazing people involved in both making and participating in the show. I loved every minute of it! On a slightly more superficial level, winning the technical bake twice was awesome!
What have you learned?
Wow. I have learned so much from this experience, refining skills and learning new ones, courtesy of the other bakers. Shawn taught me how to make a fantastic curd, Teddy taught me you can never have too much bling, Dot taught me to never taste her dough without asking for an ingredients list... I have also learned exactly how much I dislike creme caramel.
If you could do it again, would you and what would you do differently, if anything?
If I could do it again (and I would in a second!), I would make a smaller cheesecake and practice un-leathery buns!
Have you been baking lately, if so, what have you made?
I have been baking lately. I have made focaccia, cheesecake and profiteroles.
What are you watching on telly at the moment?
I am currently watching The Great South African Bake Off, Grey's Anatomy, Modern Family, Quantico and American Horror Story.
If I came to your home and looked inside the fridge, what would I find?
Ooooh, it depends if I've been shopping! A LOT of vaccines, carrots for my horses, champagne, milk, cream, cheese, butter, salad ingredients and strawberries.
