Size doesn’t matter

BAFTA-winning Grand Designs is widely recognized as Britain’s pre-eminent series on modern architecture and design, taking viewers into the heart of life’s great unfolding human stories, where ordinary families risk all to experiment with architecture, technology and their own lifestyle.

In this series, Kevin meets a plumber and ceramicist couple who hand-built a big modern treehouse on a budget. In Sussex, he meets a couple who want to build a giant house of fun featuring secret stairs, hiding places and a fireman’s pole, all the while bewildering his builders with his changing design. In South Cornwall he meets a couple who want to hand-build a spectacular family home with curvy wood cladding and twisty handmade furniture, all on a budget. Another couple Kevin meets want to start building their unique family home on a hill, but need to first be self-sufficient to live there. Then there’s the couple with the off-grid cowshed conversion, who turned it into a sustainable contemporary home and business space packed with clever features and stacks of charm.
