In terms of national parks in South Africa and the world, the Kruger is posting some formidible numbers:
- It's the largest national park in South Africa and sixth largest in the world in terms of area (19 485 square km)
- It's larger than countries such as Fiji, Jamaica and Swaziland
- It is South Africa's oldest national park, being officially designated in 1926
- Kruger Park lodges have frequently been named among the best hotels in the world by travel magazines and websites. A night at some of the more exclusive private lodges can cost around R22 000 per person.
