The host of Idols SA, Proverb

This is it … the last stop of the Idols SA audition tour for 2016!.

After traversing the country’s big three cities – Durban, Pretoria and Johannesburg – Idols SA is coming to Cape Town for the last leg of the auditions. And what a thrill-a-minute the journey has been so far.

There have been amazing successes and dismal defeats, touching life stories and amusing antics, some dreams have soared while others crashed … All in front of judges Randall Abrahams, Unathi Msengana, Gareth Cliff and Somizi Mhlongo. But one judge will not be sitting at the table when Cape Town shows off its talent at Grand West Entertainment World on Saturday 5 March 2016.

Gareth Cliff will be travelling to the United States and will miss out on the Mother City auditions. But Capetonians need not worry about a vacant chair staring back at them because one of their favourite sons will be occupying it.

Featuring his distinct print cap with its extra-long beak, a moustache reminiscent of 1970s TV stars, and wearing his trademark vest, say hello to multi-award winning Afrikaans rapper Jack Parow! As the special guest judge, he’s sure to make this last leg a memorable one.

Head of Publicity at Mzansi Magic Nondumiso Mabece said: “We are honoured that Jack Parrow will join the judging panel while Gareth is away. He is a firm South African favourite who will add a unique dynamic and excitement to the panel; after all no one is as ‘Cooler As Ekke’ as he is.”

It’s been a while since Cape Town really sparkled in Idols SA, so it remains to be seen if this is the year one of the city’s own will join Table Mountain as a natural wonder.

If you don’t want to miss your shot at musical fame – or infamy – make your way to Grand West Entertainment World on Saturday 5 March 2016.

Do not forget to bring your ID and a positive attitude. Minors need to bring a signed consent from a parent or guardian in order to audition. Entry is free and open to all South African citizens who are between 16 and 30 years old on the date of their first audition.
