Let's take a look at which new shows came our way this year:

Mzansi Magic shocked us to the core when we saw the new telenovela Isithembiso. (Monday - Thursdays at 19:30 on Mzansi Magic. Available on DStv Now.) The show is a hit and we’re still waiting for that moment where we see Banzi walking around in the streets in his undies.

iNumber Number gave us action and thrills as Sdumo went undercover to join a gang and things got really complicated and out of hand but it was all pulled together by a faceoff and he survived.

Who doesn’t like a bit of sports and entertainment at the same time? This is what hosts Minnie Dlamini and Lungsta brought in Homeground (Live on Mzansi Magic and SuperSport 4, Mondays at 21:30. Also available on DStv Now) The show has the top sporting moments, a quiz with the celebrity guest and a performance at the end. This show will get you excited about sports in every way.

Thishiwe Ziqhubu displays her versatility in The Imposter where she plays twins. One of them is evil and takes over the life of the good twin. Every time we think the evil twin Mantwa will get caught Matshepho figures a way out. Can she just get caught already?

Watch >> The Imposter Sundays 20:00 at on Mzansi Magic. Also available on DStv Now.

We wanted all that torque about cars and Mzansi delivered with Change Down with hosts Skhumba and Boity. We saw a variety of cars from the not so nice to luxury vehicles.

MTV brought Shuga DS which showed relationships and sexuality in a different light, coming to SA for the very first time. It was very educational and entertaining at the same time.

Reality

We also got a good dose of reality this year. From family, comedy to wedding and media personalities we had it all.

Minnie made history with her 3-part wedding special Becoming Mrs Jones where we saw her living her best life and getting married to the love of her life Quinton Jones.

We met the Mseleku family in Uthando Nes'thembu where a lot of social conversation took place. Mseleku has three wives and they all have their individual houses and also get along. Here's an interview we did with the family:

We can’t wait for the next season in 2018.

Bonang Matheba also reigned on social media everytime Being Bonang came on. We learnt phrases like “Champagne Darling”, “Skhabafa Chance” and were introduced to her cousin “Pinky Girl.”

Talent was on show

Lot's of talent was discovered and celebrated this year. In fact, Mzansi Magic went all out with rewarding talent by launching the successful DStv Mzansi Viewer's Choice Awards

Idols S13 was taken by the youngest contestant in history Paxton Fielies. She has a powerful voice and next year we will get to see the show continue on.

Mzansi gave a chance to rising stars in another singing competition Vodacom NXT Level. We mean singing, rapping and just being able to impress with your talent. They were also mentored by some SA’s finest including DJ Zinhle, Euphonik, Riky Rick, Danny K and Big Nuz

Zethembiso Perfect Mdletshe aka Zethe took the title recently, we wish her all the best:

BET gave viewers an opportunity to purge their deepest darkest secrets on The Big Secret hosted by Khanyi Mbau

Contestants got to test out their cooking skills in KFC’s Taste Kitchen where Lentswe Bhengu and Lucia Mthiyane judged the meals prepped by them and got eliminated if it didn’t make the cut. The show was hosted by Bonang Matheba.

Wedding days were tried and tested by Denise, Siba, Cindy and Zavion in Wedding Bashers where the couples put on their best show for the judges in hopes of winning the R800 000 prize. In the end, Taryn and Franco won as their wedding at the inner city rooftop scored the most with the judges.

Music
We got down to the latest SA hits in Massive Music. Hosted by Lalla Hiriyama and Smash Afrika we also got exclusive interviews with the hottest artists like DJ Tira, Euphonik and Lady Zamar just to name a few.

BET presented gospel in a new way in Gospel & Rhythm. Host Khaya Mthethwa got to mingle and chat with the biggest gospel stars.

Dating
Single hopefuls came onto Uyangthanda Na? to let their crushes know about their true feelings. Some friendships were compromised but others grew into blooming romances as Tats Nkonzo helped facilitate the date where the hopefuls poured out their heart in hopes of getting into a relationship. Not everyone got what they wanted but they took a chance on love.

Phat Joe also helped singles in Take Me Out Mzansi. Where it really is a game of elimination. Hopefuls get to go out on a date if there is a contestant left standing with a white light. Watch Take Me Out Mzansi Fridays at 19:30. Also available on DStv Now.
