The country’s new feel-good singing contest continues with more soul-stirring performances and surprise acts.
Last week’s episode of The Voice South Africa ended in a crescendo of tears as coach Bobby van Jaarsveld went on his knees to beg a truly inspirational talent – 22-year old Vernon Barnard, who lost his sight at the age of six – to join his team. This week, the country’s new feel-good singing contest continues with more soul-stirring performances and surprise acts.
“Be sure you’re tuned in right from the start, at 17:30 on Sunday,” says M-Net’s Head of Publicity, Lani Lombard. “Some of the early performances deliver goose-bump moments that are bound to have South Africa talking again. To top it off, the four coaches employ all sorts of tricks and debating skills to persuade the outstanding singers to pick them as their mentors. This week even more than before, as they strongly believe that they might bag – or lose – the winner of the competition.”
This Sunday’s performers include a variety of singers from all ages and backgrounds. Viewers can look forward to seeing and hearing magnificent rough diamonds from small towns and dusty villages with big dreams of conquering the local music industry, as well as some polished gems with years of experience as vocalists. There are also some brave song choices in different genres and languages, and even a popular number from the repertoire of one of the coaches.
