Hafthor Júlíus Björnsson, who potrays the merciless Gregor Clegane in Game of Thrones, won the World's Strongest Man competition which took place in the Philippines.
Ever wondered what the stars of the HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones get up to when they are not on set? Well, we have been keeping our ears on the ground and we are excited to announce that Hafthor Júlíus Björnsson, who plays Gregor Clegane also known as The Mountain, recently won the gruelling World's Strongest Man competition.
Björnsson made his debut in the competition in 2011, with impressive performances since 2012, he has finished in the top three. By the look of things, he will dominate the sport for many years to come.
The Icelandic made his first appearance as Ser Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane in the fourth season of Game of Thrones, taking over from Ian Whyte who played the character in the second season. Björnsson also starred in the martial arts film, Kickboxer: Retaliation alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Game of Thrones is set to make its return in 2019 for the final season with Björnsson once again portraying the role of The Mountain who is set for a brutal showdown with his brother Sandor "The Hound" Clegane.
