The DStv iRock Music Festival is making a return to Polokwane, giving local artists in Limpopo another chance to compete to be the opening act in the festival’s Battle for the Stage competition.
Solo artists or bands are invited to enter the DStv iRock Battle for the Stage competition by sending in clips of their performances. The winner gets to kick off the music extravaganza at the Polokwane Rugby Fields on Saturday, 26 September, which includes some of Mzansi’s hottest music acts on the line-up.
The prize also includes access to the VIP area giving the winner a chance to interact with media, celebrities, and other performers. There’s also an opportunity to be featured on V- Entertainment on Vuzu and an interview in The Capricorn Newspaper; as well as a R5 000 cash prize.
How to enter
All you need to do stand a chance of winning this once in a lifetime opportunity, as a group and/or individual is to provide a short biography with high resolution images alongside a recorded one minute long digital clip of your musical performance.
Then upload the clip on your own Facebook page and tag @DStv #DStvMusic #DStviRock. Entrants can also send videos with the keyword DStviRock via Whatsapp on 073 546 2766, SMS to 44899 (SMS costs R1.50) or keep an eye on the media for further announcements on shopping mall activations, where DStv will audition entrants on site.
A panel of music industry professionals will then shortlist entries and choose a winner. The competition is open from 00:01 on Monday, 17 August to midnight (00:00) on Friday, 18 September 2015. The winner will be announced on the DStv website; the DStv iRock Facebook page and in the entertainment section of The Capricorn Newspaper on Tuesday, 22 September 2015.
