Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in Tangled: The Series.

The Walt Disney Company Africa caused a bit of a fun frenzy on social media with the reveal of their up-coming series, movies and home merchandise last week.

Our inner kid-self become giddy with joy as each hour passed of their content showcase for the next year. We can’t share everything but here are the must-know details to know for any fellow Disney devotees.

Coming soon

The Disney Channel (303), Disney XD (304) and Disney Jr (309) titles coming your way very soon are seriously exciting! From the highly awaited premiere of Disney’s Descendants 2 (on Friday 6 October on Disney Channel) which sees Mal battle with being good or evil, to our welcome into Raven’s Home is awakening our nostalgic feels (for anyone over 20 years might we add).

Disney Jr introduces a number of new faces in October, such as plucky little Vee of Vampirina (premiering on Saturday 28 October at 09:00) who will have you singing and dancing along in her adventures, to Puppy Dog Pals (every weekday from Monday 9 October at 16:25) which oozes with cuteness as pug pups Bingo and Rolly team up and have tons of fun.

Expect a new season special of Sofia the First called Mystic Isles (Saturday 28 October at 08:30), Halloween episodes of Mickey and the Roadster Racers and a special crossover with our favourite little doctor and honey-loving bear with a Winnie the Pooh and Doc McStuffins crossover Into the Hundred Acre Woods (Saturday 14th October at 10:00) episode.

Massive movies
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (available to watch on BoxOffice) and Beauty and the Beast (available to watch on BoxOffice) on shelves to buy and own, it's time to countdown to Disney's up-coming cinematic releases for the rest of the year. From Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok on 27 October exploding onto the big screen, to Disney Pixar's beautiful Coco set for release on 24 November which includes the new Frozen short, Olaf's Frozen Adventure. We can't forget the continuiation of the Star Wars saga with Star Wars: The Last Jedi anticipated for 15 November. In short, we can expect a busy yet exciting close of the year!

Disney teased more details for movies in 2018 with Incredibles 2, Ralph Breaks the Internet, A Wrinkle in Time, Avengers: Infinity War amongst the many titles discussed.

The most exciting news? Further details of Black Panther set to release in 2018 which will see South African actor John Kani reprise his role as T'Chaka (as seen in Captain America: Civil War). You can also expect to see Kani's son Atandwa join him in the film too. An extra detail we're most happy about hearing was that John Kani will be voicing Rafiki in the 2019 live-action release of The Lion King!

We wish we could touch on everything mentioned but we hope you're just as excited as us about the next year of magic and wonder from The Walt Disney Company Africa!
