Diamond Platnumz beats off Indian singer-actress Priyanka Chopra to win Best Worldwide Act Africa/India at the MTV EMAs 2015.
Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz won Best Worldwide Act Africa/India at the MTV EMAs 2015 held in Milan, Italy, on Sunday night.
Diamond beat off Indian actress-singer Priyanka Chopra – the breakout star of new hit Quantico - making him the first African artist to clinch the coveted prize.

Earlier in October, Diamond beat off competition from AKA, Yemi Alade, Davido, and DJ Arafat to get the final Africa vote.

Just after the announcement of his win, the Number One singer took to Instagram to thank his fans for the support.

The main man of the night however was definitely Justin Bieber who secured his music comeback by becoming the biggest winner of the night with five prizes.
The Baby singer, who revived his music career earlier this year, was the first winner of the night, picking up the Best Male accolade for the sixth consecutive time.
He continued his successful streak with awards for Biggest Fans, Best Worldwide Act: North America, Best Look and Best Collaboration for his track Where Are U Now, featuring Skrillex and Diplo.
Picking up the collaboration prize, Bieber said, "This has been an okay night for me. First of all I wanted to say Skrillex and Diplo, man, those guys are so talented and really helped me take my music to the next level so I just to say thank you to Skrillex and Diplo.
Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes both scored two awards. The British singer, who co-hosted the ceremony with actress/DJ Ruby Rose, won Best Live Act and Best World Stage for his performances and Mendes took home gongs for Best Push Act and Best New Act.
Taylor Swift had been predicted as the big winner as she lead the nominations with nine, but she only went home with one prize for Best Song for Bad Blood, featuring Kendrick Lamar.
Other winners included One Direction for Best Pop, Rihanna for Best Female, Nicki Minaj for Best Hip-Hop and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Downtown won Best Video.
Veteran rockers Duran Duran won the inaugural Video Visionary Award for their impact on music promos during the ceremony in Milan, Italy.
