Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

The 2015 NBA finals on SuperSport are expected to be more about the showdown between MVP Stephen Curry and LeBron James.

The 2015 NBA finals, tipping off on SuperSport on Friday, 5 June, are expected to be more about the showdown between MVP Stephen Curry and LeBron James than their teams, the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers

The games will be broadcast on SS4HD, giving you yet another reason to get #nicelifeproblems

Curry was the driving force behind the Warriors as they finished the regular season at the summit of the Western Conference for the first time in 39 years and swept past the New Orleans Pelicans (4-0) in the first round of the playoffs.

He was duly rewarded with the Maurice Podoloff Trophy for the league’s Most Valuable Player. His scintillating form continued in the remainder of the playoff rounds ensuring his side reached the finals for the first time in 40 years, further proving his MVP credentials.

James also had a monumental season in which he dominated opposition defences to power the Cavaliers to a second-place finish in the Eastern Conference. The Cleveland franchise had failed to make the playoffs in all four seasons that the four-time MVP was away plying his trade for the Miami Heat, and it’s why some people feel he should have been chosen for the MVP honour.

Even though James endorsed the decision to award Curry the title, he will surely want to dominate the finals to remind the basketball world that he’s still number one.

Michael Jordan used the 1993 and 1997 finals to stamp his authority as the king of the sport after the MVP titles were awarded to Charles Barkley and Karl Marlone respectively.

The finals will be live across three SuperSport channels: SS4HD, SS9 and Maximo.
