Common has won an Emmy for writing the song Letter to Free off the documentary 13th.
Rapper Common recently won an Emmy for writing the song Letter to the Free.

In 2015 Common won an Oscar for composing Glory with John Legend, while in 2003 he won a Grammy for Love of My Life with Erykah Badu.
He’s now the first rapper to receive all three of these awards and is one step closer an EGOT, all he needs is a Tony Award now.
There are only 12 people who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, otherwise known as EGOT. The list includes Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, Robert Lopez and Marvin Hamlisch amongst others.
