Jack Russel and Beagle cross Charlie is the top dog in M-Net Movies’ Ambassadoggy search.

The world of local television has found its first Ambassadoggy. The adorable Jack Russel and Beagle cross Charlie wowed viewers to snatch up this coveted title that makes him the official face of the M-Net Movies Family channel on DStv.

Once celebrity doggy-loving judges Vanessa Haywood, Rob Vember, Just Curious, Bailey Schneider and Kristy Sharman had whittled down the more than a thousand entries to five contenders, it was up to the viewing public to choose their winner by liking the entries on Youtube. Charlie’s video, which showcases the tail-wagger’s energetic, fun-loving nature, came out tops with 761 likes.

The new Ambassadoggy’s best friend -  and owner - Roxanne Bennett beams with excitement over the pooch’s performance:  “Thank you so much to everyone who voted for Charlie to make his dream come true. He is the most pawsome pup around and he hopes to make M-Net proud by strutting his stuff. I’m going to have to try and not give in to his steak for dinner demands … “

Roxanne and Charlie walk away with a flat screen TV, a DStv Explora decoder and a pampering voucher so Charlie will look his best for his Ambassadoggy debut. Runners- up Tyrion from Game of Bones and his owner Shaun Custers, who came second with 517 votes, will also be able to snuggle up to M-Net Movies Family with a DStv Explora decoder.

M-Net Movies Marketing Manager Justin Jacobie says the competition was “absolutely PAWsome. The cute factor of all the dogs blew us away and we can’t wait to start working on our new channel graphics with the winner! Congratulations to Charlie and his owner, Roxanne Bennett and well done to everyone who took part. It’s clear that when it comes to M-Net Movies, our viewers really are barking mad and perhaps even A Little Obsessed”.
