Cast functionality coming to Android app.
DStv Now lets you watch what you want, when you want it. Up until now, you could only view DStv Now content on your smartphone, tablet or computer but that’s all about to change!
Thanks to the new Google Chromecast functionality on the DStv Now Android app, you will be able to “cast” your live TV channels and Catch Up content, including your choice of 1 000 M-Net Movies Collection titles, onto your smart TV!
This service will be made available from mid-April.
Casting from the DStv Now Android app is easy:
- Connect your Android device to a WiFi network
- Open the DStv Now app and select the content you want to watch
- Press the “Cast” button in the app
- Enjoy your viewing on the big screen
“DStv Now offers our customers the convenience of choosing what they want to watch when they are ready,” says Graeme Cumming, head of DStv Digital Media. “The option to share content from mobile devices to TVs is something our customers have been asking for for a while. We’re currently working on securing the rights to perform similar functions using Apple AirPlay.”
DStv customers who use DStv Now have access to a wealth of content ranging from sport to movies to kids shows, thanks to more than 60 live TV streaming channels. There’s also Express from the US content on DStv Catch Up featuring shows such as Suits, Crashing, Girls, Homeland, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Lucifer. Remember to keep an eye on the DStv Catch Up calendar to see what's new and plan your viewing.
