We compare the cooking shows Koekedoor and Great British Bake Off.
With all the great cooking shows available on DStv, I’m sure all your mouths are watering!
Among some of the awesome cooking shows, so much tradition can be revealed. But what if we had to compare these traditional and patriotic shows?
South Africa is the proud home of Koekedoor, the kykNET cooking show at 20:30 every Thursday.
The UK can claim The Great British Bake Off, with season five premiering on 21 April at 20:00 on BBC Lifestyle.
Let’s have a look at all the awesome yummy things we can find:
Lemon tartlets vs melktert
Alright I’ve always believed that you have an extra stomach for pudding (my gran taught me that so it must be true), so I’d definitely want to gobble both. But – I simply cannot resist a good slice of Melktert. So creamy and cinnamony and just plain great.
Mini Victoria spongecakes vs piesangbrood
Mmm, they both sound so good! I do love spongecake and custard, I must say. But warm piesangbrood and butter is absolutely grand. I’m going to have to go with the latter.
Rasberry and almond croissants vs klapper en suurlemoen kolwyntjies
There’s not much better than a lekker kolwyntjie, but I cannot pass up a warm croissant! They are just too decadent and tasty, it’s a total guilty pleasure!
White chocolate and ginger cheesecake vs Peppermint Crisp tert
Wow, this makes for a tough decision. Peppermint crisp tert is a family braai favourite but the cheesecake sounds divine – I think I’ll have to go with that.
What are your favourites? If your mouth is watering as much as mine, be sure to check out the Koekedoor page for all the proudly South African recipes so you can bake these amazing dishes - I know what I’ll be doing this weekend!
