Have you been wondering what the DStv's Brands on Demand service is? Here are the answers to all your questions about our latest service. 

1. Is the service available on the SD PVR?

No, SD PVR decoders can’t play the HD quality videos that will flight on Brands on Demand.

2. Do I have to register on the DStv.com website first to access the service?

No, you don’t have to register for anything.

3. How do I access Brands on Demand on my HD PVR decoder?  

  • Press OK on your remote (from any channel)
  • Scroll down and select ‘Brands on Demand’ 
  • Once the service has loaded, you’ll see a home screen where all of the videos will be displayed
  • Select the video you want to watch and press OK to play

4. How do I access Brands on Demand on my DStv Explora?

  • Press the CATCH UP button on your remote
  • Select ‘Other Shows’ 
  • Now select ‘Brands on Demand’ 
  • Once the service has loaded, you’ll see a home screen where all of the videos will be displayed
  • Select the video you want to watch and press OK to play

5. How do I access Brands on Demand on my decoder?

  • Press OK on your remote (from any channel)
  • Scroll down and select ‘Brands on Demand’ 
  • Once the service has loaded, you’ll see a home screen where all of the videos will be displayed
  • Select the video you want to watch and press OK to play

6. My decoder shows the Brands on Demand service on my DStv Touch menu but I can’t access it?

All decoder models will be able to see the Brands on Demand menu item on the DStv menu. If your decoder is not an HD PVR or DStv Explora, you will not be able to access the service.

7. Is it available outside South Africa?

No, the service is currently only available in South Africa. 

8. Will I be able to fast forward, pause and/or rewind the Brands on Demand videos?

Yes, you’ll be able to use these PVR functions.

9. Can I switch between poster view and list view? 

  • On the HD PVR, you can only view the service in poster view.
  • On the DStv Explora, please follow these steps the see a list view:
  • Press the CATCHUP button on your remote
  • Press the OPTIONS button
  • Scroll down to ‘Posters’
  • Scroll right to ‘Text’
  • Press OK.
  • To change the view from list view to poster view on your DStv Explora, use these steps:
  • Press the CATCHUP button on your remote
  • Press the OPTIONS button
  • Scroll down to ‘Text’
  • Scroll right to ‘Poster’ 
  • Press OK.

10. Can I access the service when my decoder has no signal?

You can access the service and watch the videos on the DStv Explora when you have no signal. Unfortunately this won’t be possible on the HD PVR decoder.

11. I was watching a video on the service and it suddenly stopped and went back to Live TV. What happened?

Three things could have happened:

You accidentally pressed the TV button on your remote;

A reminder was activated (only applicable to DStv Exploras. On the HD PVR, reminders only happen once you leave the Brands on Demand app or return to LIVE TV);

The video you were watching expired.

12. I’m watching a video on the service but the sound quality is poor and there’s video breakup. What should I do?

13. Will there be competitions?

Yes, we’ll be running competitions (these will be at the advertiser’s discretion and only available to DStv customers).
