Altovise Lawrence has been crowned the first ever Top Actor SA
After eight exciting episodes that had audiences on the edge of their seats, revealed 23-year old stunner Altovise Lawrence as the winner of the first series of Top Actor SA.
The grand final of the reality series (BET, 28 May) saw Altovise walk away with a cash prize of R100,000 and a contract with African talent specialists Restless Talent Management, in a bid to fast track the talented actress’ career to greater heights. Altovise also won a well-deserved weekend for two getaway at Sun City (Palace of the Lost City).
Altovise, a Dramatic Arts graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), was a hot contender from day one, acing her acting techniques in every imaginable genre to scoop the coveted award.
The Boksburg resident could not contain her excitement when she was announced as Top Actor SA, “I couldn’t believe that I made it to the top three in the competition as I was one of the youngest contestants and only recently finished my post graduate studies. I am ecstatic and will definitely keep the skills that I gained from the series of the competition to improve my acting abilities."

This week’s episode saw Altovise compete again finalists Francois Jacobs and Nicolas Nkuna in a high stakes episode which saw them transformed into action heroes, performing dangerous stunts, learning fighting techniques and shooting firearms.
Hollywood’s Michael Jai White from Universal Soldier and Why Did I Get Married? 1 and 2 judged the last challenge alongside South Africa’s Natalie Becker, who gave the actors valuable advice based on her experiences filming Scorpion King 2.
Tune in to the reunion episode of Top Actor SA on Thursday 11 June at 19:20 CAT on BET 129 only on DStv, when all of the season secrets, drama and behind-the-scenes gossip comes out, as the original 12 contestants review their experiences on the show.
Hosted by South African film and television star Zikhona Sodlaka (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Generations), Top Actor SA has seen 12 of the best up and coming actors in the country battle it out on camera in front of big industry names from Hollywood and South Africa.
