Artwork for Bunnicula on Boomerang

How I Met Your Mother actor Chris Kattan voices Bunnicula on Boomerang.

If you’re anything like us, one of our joys of watching cartoons on the kids' channels, is identifying the actors behind the voices of our favourite characters.

We’ve been enjoying the adventures of Bunnicula for a while now. The cartoon is about a vampire rabbit, what is not to enjoy!

STREAM: Bunnicula on DStv Now, Sunday 29 October at 19:50.

Every time we tune into Boomerang (DStv Channel 302), we’ve had a bit of trouble placing the voices of Bunnicula and Chester and we’ve finally figured it out!

Bunnicula is played by Chris Kattan, who we saw in a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother, as Jed Moseley. And that’s not all… Chris is also the voice behind Mina’s dad on Bunnicula!

And if you’re wondering why Chester’s voice sounds so familiar, it’s probably because you’re a fan of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Chester’s voice comes from the LOTR actor Sean Astin, who plays Sean in the fantasy drama.

Here are a few of our favourite actors, who voice characters we love.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster
We love him as Ferb, and we got to know him as Sam in Love Actually and Jojen Reed on Game of Thrones.

Other actors who lend their voices to this Disney classic are Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay in High School Musical) as Candace and Alyson Stoner (Step Up, Cheaper By The Dozen) as Isabella.

WATCH: Phineas and Ferb, weekdays at 12:30 on Disney XD (DStv Channel 304).

Mark Hamill
You may know his face as Luke Skywalker from the Star Wars movies, but to us he is just Skips on Regular Show.

Some of the other characters Mark has voiced in his illustrious career are Mr. Block in Milo Murphy’s Law and Kavaxas on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

STREAM: Regular Show, weekdays at 15:40 on Cartoon Network.

Ariel Winter
You may know her as the brainiac Alex on Modern Family, but every day, if you tune in to Disney Junior, you can hear Ariel’s voice as Princess Sofia on Sofia The First.

Do you remember Dr. Callie Torres on Grey’s Anatomy? She voices Sofia’s mother Queen Miranda and comedian Wayne Brady is Clover.

WATCH: Sofia The First weekdays at 16:55 on Disney Junior (DStv Channel 309).

Kiara Muhammad
Kiara voices one of our favourite characters on TV – Doc McStuffins! She’s even lent her voice to Princess Kari on Sofia The First.

What we love about Doc McStuffins is that so many actors and actresses have voiced characters on this popular show. Some of our favourites are: South African DJ and TV presenter Unathi Msengana as Rita the Cheetah, Ellen Pompeo (Grey’s Anatomy) as Willow, Wanda Sykes (black-ish) as Thea, Ty Burrell (Modern Family) as Big Jack and Loretta Devine (Grey’s Anatomy) as Hallie. Even former US First Lady Michelle Obama had a turn to voice her own character, when Doc paid a visit to the White House.

WATCH: Doc McStuffins weekdays at 18:55 on Disney Junior (DStv Channel 309).

Toya Delazy
Recently it was announced that South African singer Toya Delazy is on a quest to save the world in The Powerpuff Girls.

As Bliss, she’s joining the world of sugar and spice, and will join Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles in Townsville. Other voices we recognise from The Powerpuff Girls include Amanda Leighton (The Fosters) as Blossom and Cree Summer (A Different World) as Green Wing.

STREAM: The Powerpuff Girls weekdays at 18:10 on Cartoon Network.
