Season 7 of Dance Moms starts on Monday 4 September at 20:00 on Lifetime (131) and boy are we in for a bumpy ride as Abby Lee Miller tells all!

The show that made dancers Nia Frazier, Kalani Hilliker and Chloe Lukasiak famous from when they were little sees a shift in focus in the premiere, when the spotlight turns to their dance teacher, Abby Lee Miller.

Abby has always been a controversial figure on and off screen. From the way she treats her students to how she reacts off air – it’s always a whirlwind of chaos in her world.

Abby goes to prison

In May 2017 Abby was found guilty of bankruptcy fraud and was sentenced to one year and a day in prison. Back in 2010, Abby filed for bankruptcy with over US$400 000 in taxes not paid. In 2015 it was found out that she had secret bank accounts created where she hid income, merchandise sales and more. In between all of this, Abby dealt with a number of other legal battles including assault charges.

On 12 July, Abby reported to Victorville Federal Correctional Institution in Victorville, California to begin serving her prison term. Before her prison term started Abby sat down to reveal her true feelings about heading to prison. In a special Dance Moms episode Abby Tells All, she shared her fears about going to prison and how she planned to get through the experience.

Where to from here?

As Abby serves her time in prison the cast of Dance Moms continue as per usual. From the second half of season 7 Cheryl Burke will take her place as dance instructor. You may recognise Cheryl from Dancing with the Stars, where she has worked alongside celebrity partners including Rob Kardashian, Jack Osbourne and Drew Carey.

Will Cheryl rule with an iron tap shoe like Abby? You’ll have to tune in to find out but if you ask us, it will be tough to match the level Abby’s on.
