Dedicated to bringing you the best of British Television, BBC Lifestyle on channel 174 will be offering a double-serving of one of Britain’s culinary treasures, Mary Berry.
On Tuesday 4 July 2017 from 20:00, Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood take us back to the tent with the ultimate baking competition, The Great British Bake Off Season 7.
The final series with the original line up of judges and presenters was the most watched reality television programme in the world in 2016, attracting 16 million viewers in the UK for the last episode.
Afterwards at 21:00, Mary takes us into her kitchen, celebrating the everyday food and ingredients she has always loved to cook in Mary Berry Everyday.
In the Bake Off tent, cake tins are at the ready and 12 amateur bakers will don their aprons and head to their workstations. Will they rise to the occasion or turn into a soggy mess in the face of the final challenges Mary and Paul have devised together?
The latest series sees Ghanaian-born banker turned heart throb Selasi Gbormittah win over not just Mel and Sue but audiences too with his cool, calm and charming ways. See how he and the other contestants fair when the competition begins with Cake Week. The group is faced with Mary’s technical challenge – a popular little cake with a fatless sponge and tricky chocolate work. In Bread Week, the contestants must make a sweet-dough with a twist, while in Tud complete the technical challenge – a knotty biscuit – before creating a masterpiece for a wealthy banquet.
In the final, the last three contestants face a showstopper which is the most complex ever seen on Bake Off. Who will be crowned champion?
With Mary Berry Everyday, the queen of the kitchen takes us on a journey from hearty and wholesome ideas to those dishes which are just a little bit more indulgent. Audiences can also look forward to easy-to-make crowd pleasers, her best family classics and exciting ways to push the boat out when showing off for guests.
In this series, Mary travels to Scotland to enjoy the best of their everyday dishes with recipes inspired by her own Scottish heritage. She discovers wonderful shellfish in Ullapool, shares the joy of venison cooked on a BBQ with Chef Tom Kitchin, and whips up her special whisky cream on the banks of a loch.
Mary also reveals her secret tip for a rich bolognaise, tries her hand at bee keeping and even milks a goat to make her own cheese.
Following the double bill of the delightful Mary Berry, this October sees the return of the South Africa’s very own The Great South African Bake Off. The third season will see a new line of up amateur bakers hoping to take home the coveted title of being the ultimate star baker.
