Rita ora for 2017 MTV EMAs.

Let's take a walk down MTV EMA memory lane as we look forward to the approaching MTV European Music Awards.

Hands up if you'll be watching the 2017 MTV EMAS live on Sunday 12 November at 22:00 CAT simulcast on both MTV (DStv channel 130) and MTV Base (DStv channel 322). Also streaming live on DStv Now

The EMAs are so close we can practically feel the excitement from fans wordwide waiting to see if their favourites will win. With Rita Ora playing host for the awards show taking place in London, we're sure it's going to be another unmissable event.

We've made Rita Ora our Person of the Week! Watch the video below to see why we can't get enough of the British star and why she'll be the hostess with the mostess:

Of course, what's an awards show without taking a stroll down memory lane to see what we've witnessed as we wonder what's to come. Here are some OMG moments that still have us talking today whenever we think of them - whether good or bad.

1. Rihanna's the Only Girl in the World

RiRi gave us a killer - and beautiful - performance of Only Girl in the World in 2010. We bow down to everything related to Rihanna, It's still one of her most beautiful awards show perfomances to date.

2. Katy Perry as host

Katy opened the show in 2009 on a giant cherry chapstick as she performed her hit I Kissed a Girl. Can we have a moment for her debut era? She's gone on to keep us in awe every year later - remmeber when she hosted the MTV VMAs earlier this year?

3. Kanye West being himself

Who can forget when Kanye interuppted Taylor Swift - it wasn't the first time he pulled a stunt like that. In 2006 he crashed the EMAs stage when Best Video was presented to Justice and Simian for We Are Your Friends. Kanye went on a little rant saying why his Touch the Sky video desrved to win - Pamela Anderson being in the video was one of the many reasons.

4. Christina vs Kelly

Let's throwback to 2002 when Christina Aguilera and Kelly Osbourne were beefing - and if social media was a thing then, we'd be getting life from the salt and shade. The Voice judge performed her song Dirrty and refused to walk the red carpet if the former Fashion Police host was present - the drama!

4. Nicki served the fun

Back in 2014 we saw Nicki Minaj host the awards show in Glasgow. From a medley of songs to her big win as Best Hip-Hop artist to a freestyle rap verse, it was a huge party of fun! The best part? Her opening descend to the show - we were feeling the angel vibes.

5. Lady Gaga being a work of art

Anyone else appreciate whenever Lady Gaga steps out? During the 2011 awards show she served some great looks with a lot of space inspiration. Even though her style may be toned down in comparison these days, the Mother Monster never disappoints.

6. King Bey reigning supreme

Beyoncé performing Sweet Dreams at the 2009 awards show remains one of the best performances from EMA history. Another great reason we can't get enough of King Bey.

7. Vintage Britney

There's nothing better than a throwback to the 90s. Anyone else love Britney Spears' Baby One More Time performance? Those lucky enough to remember were able to witness the reigning princess of pop at the start of her career.
