Coke Studio Africa Season 4 has been labelled as the biggest season yet with 11 countries (including Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, DRC, Ghana and Ethiopia, which were not part of the previous seasons) participating. Other than big acts across Africa making music together, this season also features American R'n'B star Trey Songz. Trigga Trey, as he is commonly known, was in Nairobi two weeks ago for Coke Studio Africa where he recorded a song with a few select artists.
Among those artists were Ugandan Rema Namakula, Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania), Lij Michael (Ethiopia), Nyashinski (Kenya), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Emtee (South Africa) and Serge Beynaud (Ivory Coast) in collaboration with famed South African producer Maphirosa.
This is Rema’s first appearance on Coke Studio Africa, where she also collaborated with 2baba (Nigeria)
For the singer who started off as a back-up singer for Bebe Cool, working with Trey Songz is not something she takes for granted. Rema said, "Being on the same stage with these powerful ladies and gentlemen means the world to me. Thank you so much Coke Studio for supporting African music. I can't believe that I'm sitting next to Trey Songz." An edearment that won her a hug from the superstar Trey Songz
Coke Studio Africa Season 4 premieres officially on Monday 17 October, and we can’t wait to see what special surprise Trey Songz, Rema and all the other artists have in store for us. Is it going to be the collabo we’ll remember for years?
Maisha Magic East will air the new season of Coke Studio Africa from Monday 17 October at 18:30.
